Anthony Gent

Director Anthony Gent is a traffic control engineer with 25 years experience within the industry. The first 9 years of his career were spent in local government(Lincolnshire & Cambridgeshire), gaining a solid grounding in all aspects of traffic signal engineering. This included junction & crossing design, signal maintenance, installation supervision, managing a UTC system and carrying out MOVA & SCOOT validation.

In 1999 Anthony moved on to Siemens Traffic Controls as a systems engineer, where he specialised in the upgrade and installation of new products within the Urban Systems team. This included Telscan CCTV, UTC systems, MOVA, ASTRAL RTPI and bus priority systems, as well as carrying out signal design within the newly created Design Services group.

In 2004 Anthony became a Regional Manager within Design Services; responsible for business development and running a team of 5 design engineers covering the North of England. He was still actively involved in engineering, and was fortunate enough to be part of the team that installed and validated the Sharjah UTC system in the UAE.

Anthony joined WSP in 2009 as an Associate within the signals team, but moved on from the company to set-up a new venture in the Autumn of 2010 – Advantage Traffic Signal Control & Design Ltd.

Richard Desa

Richard Desa is a traffic signal engineer with several years experience within the industry. He graduated from university in 2006 with a BA (Hons) degree in product design.

His career in the traffic industry started in 2008 with Siemens Traffic Controls as a graduate traffic signal engineer. Richard worked in the same office as Anthony and completed his graduate program training with Siemens.

In 2010, Richard left Siemens Traffic Controls and had a change of career. He still worked for Siemens but had moved business sectors from mobility to energy where he retrained as an electrical applications engineer, working on the electrical aspects of new industrial gas turbine installations. This role saw him working with different companies from around the world.

In 2014, Richard and Anthony’s paths crossed once more and later that year Richard made the decision to leave his current role and started working with Advantage Traffic Signal Control & Design Ltd.

Since returning to the industry, Richard has been able to apply the skills he has built up in his previous roles. He has a ‘right first time’ approach to his work and will endeavour to fulfil your requirements by making sure he has a clear understanding of the project detail at all times.
